RACE RESULT: 3rd Conquer Ridge Runner – Tarak Ridge 25K

Happy Fiesta Brgy. Alasasin, Mariveles, Bataan.

The 3rd edition of Tarak Ridge 25K became one of the highlights of Brgy. Alasasin fiesta celebration. We celebrated with the most number of attendance and the result became interesting because of the presence of some of the finest trail runners and rising stars of our country. Local runners of Mariveles took spotlights too.

The 1st leg of Conquer Trail Adventure Series would not be possible if not because of the following: First and foremost with God for giving us another very good weather, safe and secured place. The Municipal Mayor of Mariveles, Bataan, Hon. Ace Jello Concepcion. To the people of Brgy. Alasasin headed by the Brgy. Capt. Hon. Roberto M. Arsenal and councilor Hon. Dante Malimban. Nanay Cording, Ate Beth, Kuya Ador, and the rest pf the local guides. Sponsors Nature Hike Philippines, Tokz Gear Outdoors, and  Altra Shoes thank you very much for the trust and support. Team Conquer headed by Mr. Jessie Tan. Our medical teams, PARDSS Mariveles Chapter, WISAR, and Cubao Zion Fire Rescue for taking good care of everyone. Lastly, all the runners for trusting Conquer races.

RACE RESULT : 2ND CONQUER RUSH TINIPAK 30K/ 10K

All wet and cold trails. An enjoyable mud festival to all especially for the first timers. But above all, the outreach activities conducted prior to run brought happiness to the people of all ages of Tanay, Rizal.

I would like to thank once again all runners, marshal, supporters and donors for participating this trail run for a cause conducted every year-end. We donated slippers, adult diapers, and detergents for the Haven for the Elderly (formerly Home for the Aged) last Saturday morning. And at the afternoon, new clothing and toys for the kids of Daraitan and Tinipak Rocks.

I was so grateful for the response made by the following individual/ runners/ teams when I called for support and donations for the said outreach. Thank you very much!!!

  2. Jonathan Paul Abaca
  3. Gerald Kress Bulayungan
  4. Knell Villena
  5. Louie Gaspar

  11. Ms. Linda Payapag Gabiana

  13. Team Striders
  14. Tanay Adventure Camp
  15. Ms. Herminia Gasmen

And to all the runner participants, your entry goes a long way….everybody is a winner…

Aside from the outreach, I decided to include a lecture and discussion about LNT (Leave No Trace Principles) to all, since lots of newcomers from the trails are on the list. It was our team objective to educate our participants about the do’s and don’ts in the outdoors since mountaineers and trail runners share the trails and everybody should be responsible for minimizing impacts.

dec-17-2016-outreach1

I’ve waited for a little light to come out before I released the participants. A little deviation from the original race route was also announced especially for the part of Tinipak Rocks where some portions were not passable during that time due to overflowing of Tinipak River. Safety must comes first before anything else. Then off they go…

RACE RESULTS: CONQUER 7 SUMMITS 60KM TRAIL ULTRAMARATHON – Leg 1

It was one tough, hard, and challenging race. I will say, this race has it all. Great views, different scenery, different obstacles.

Honestly, I told myself before the gun start that every finishers should be given my utmost respect – Sasambahin ko talaga.

We started the first leg of The Conqueror Series with the Conquer 7 Summits 60KM. From the title itself, runners will have to conquer 7 brutal mountains in 18 hours.

It was expected to be a wet weekend but we had given a very good weather. The race started Nov. 5, 10PM at Tablon Elementary Schools. The first half was a wild wet trails due to the rainforest characteristics of Mt. Paliparan and Barangay Cuyambay area. Runners was advised to be at the drop bag area (KM 27) on or before 9 hours or 7AM of Nov. 6. They should not consume the most of that time since the real battle was on the second half of the race.

The side event 30KM was started 5:30AM of Nov. 6. Participants took the same 2nd half route of the 60KM runners.

The second half was expected to be hard, with 6 mountains to conquer – Binutasan, Sapari, Kulis, Tangwa, Lobo, and the soon to be famed Toyang. Side trip was the 4 Waterfalls of Brgy. Laiban. At this point, runners toughness will be tested. Especially when time was not on their side anymore.

I decided to extend the finish cut-off time to additional 1 hour for both categories. Let all runners who decided to finish even beyond cut-off.

I would like to thank first of all our Lord for the safe finish of all runners. All were accounted for after the battle. The people of Tanay especially the local community of Brgy. Cuyambay headed by Brgy. Capt Reynaldo Dela Sada, Brgy. Laiban headed by Brgy. Capt. Adelina Villanueva and Kagawad Toto, and Brgy. Sampaloc headed by Brgy. Capt. Alvin Belza and Kagawad Arman Tejada, who assisted our runners along the way. Sir Jeff Pino, Tanay Senior Tourism Officer for making Team Conquer their official outdoor activity partner for their 6th Hane Festival. Altra Shoes, our race partner, headed by Mam Cielo and Mam Jeane, for the support. Team Conquer headed by Sir Jessie Tan, for the usual support and assistance. Tanay Adventure Camp for our second home and for the usual warm welcome. Our volunteer marshals, CAMC, TAC Boys, Daryl Narvaez, and Darrel Padolina. And of course all the runners who participated who made us achieve our objective to provide assistance to Tablon Elementary School – we donated amplifier with speakers to be used for school programs. The School Principal of Tablon Elementary School, Dr. Emilia Cayabyab for letting us use their school and facilities.

Running Community, my snappy salute to the tough finishers of the 1st Edition of Conquer 7 Summits 60KM Trail Ultramarathon.
